      MAY 2005
With winter finally behind us, we are all looking forward to riding and showing outside.  Hopefully the spring “monsoons” will soon be over and the sun will begin to shine!
We have been very busy preparing for the Hollyhurst Farm 2005 Horse Show Series.  Martha’s flowers will once again be decorating every jump!  We hope that everyone has seen our great new horse show schedule and has enjoyed the addition of our on-line entry form.

The 2004/2005 horse show season is in full swing and we are all having a lot of fun and success.  Meg and “Nick” continue to lead the Zone 2 Children’s Hunter Horse division so far this season ~ keep up the good work Meg!  Joining Meg and “Nick” with many top ribbons are Dani and “Wyatt”, Alex and “Elvis”, Ryan and “Duke”, and Courtney and “Haley”.  We are very proud of all of their success!!

Dani has recently moved her large pony “Riley” up to the Children’s Hunter Pony division and was Champion at her 1st two shows!  Watch for a video clip coming soon of Riley on our sale page. Alex and “Corey” have also made the transition to the Children’s Pony division and have had many wins.  “Rosie” and her incredible jumping form continue to amaze us as she and Emily have also experienced many wins in the Children’s Hunter Pony division … we look forward to seeing more of them this spring!

We have three very talented riders competing in the Walk-Trot-Canter, Equitation division … Congratulations to Katelyn and “Quincy”, Ashley and “Jet”, and Taylor and “Mocha” for bringing home many Champion and Reserve Champion ribbons!  Katelyn and “Quincy” and Ashley and “Jet” are also winning in the Pre-Children’s division while Taylor and “Mocha” are a huge success in the Pleasure Pony division.

Congratulations to our little Walk-Trot riders, Dani and Abby, on the purchase of “Clowning Around”!  These girls are always in the top ribbons with “Strawberry” and we wish them the best of luck on their new pony!  Joining them in the Walk-Trot division is the brand new team of Rachel and “Rags” … congratulations to these 2 Champions!

We would also like to congratulate Joanne on the purchase of “Breezy”, Courtney on the purchase of “Molly”, and Carina on the purchase of our Hollyhurst yearling, “Tillie”.  We know that you all will have many great times with your new horses!
Olivia and “Magic” always steal the show in Short Stirrup … “Magic” and Becca were also a huge success at our Hollyhurst shows!  Joining Olivia and “Magic” in Short Stirrup is the brand new winning team of Katie and “Sara”.  We are looking forward to many more successful shows with these riders and their ponies!

Making their debut in the Long Stirrup division are Stacy and “Sara”, Lin and “Ginger”, and Pat and “Scout” … we know you ladies had a great time and we want to congratulate you on your success!  We look forward to many more horse shows with you all!  We would also like to recognize Jill and “Providence” and Danielle and “Connor” for making their 2005 horse show debut.  Great job to you both!

We happily welcome “Cal” back to Hollyhurst and look forward to Jackie riding and showing in the Adult Hunters with Patti and “Duke”. Elizabeth and Janine are temporarily on the “injured reserve list”(injuries not related to riding) and we wish them both speedy recoveries … Patti and “Duke” miss showing with them and are looking forward to the “Annex” being back together soon (not to mention having someone to talk to in the hack class)!
Our green horses are preparing for the outdoor show season …  “Peanut”, “Rivendell”, and “Poptart” have already had much success and we wish them all the very best of luck!  Ryan and his green horse, “Sarah” continue to win at every show ~ having had great success indoors and now looking forward to showing outside!

Megan and “Nikka” and Jen and “Lilly” are always winning in the Pre-Children’s Horse and Pre-Adult divisions.  Great job to both of these teams!

We continue to have so much fun here at Hollyhurst … inside and outside of the barn.  We always look forward to our “field trips”, and hope Leo’s Ice Cream shop never runs out of Cake Batter & Brownie ice cream!!  Again, many thanks to everyone in the Hollyhurst “family” for all of the help and support we offer each other!  Thank you, Max, for loading and shipping our horses and for providing entertainment during our long days at horse shows!  We would like to thank Dillan for all of his help in preparation for our April shows and our thoughts are with him as we wish him a speedy recovery. We look forward to seeing him around the barn soon!  And our most sincere thanks to Betsy for her generosity, guidance, support, and most importantly her friendship!

In closing, we would like to say a tearful goodbye to our dear friend “Bailey”.  We will cherish all of the great times we had with him.
